Bebidas adoçadas com açúcar (SSBs) são a principal fonte de açúcares adicionados na dieta em crianças, com alto consumo comumente observado em áreas mais carentes, onde a prevalência de obesidade também é maior. Associações entre consumo de SSB e obesidade em crianças têm sido amplamente relatadas. Em março de 2016, um imposto de dois níveis da indústria de refrigerantes (SDIL) sobre fabricantes de bebidas para incentivar a reformulação de SSBs no Reino Unido foi anunciado e implementado em abril de 2018. Examinamos trajetórias na prevalência de obesidade nas idades de 4 a 5 anos e 10 a 11 anos e 19 meses após a implantação do SDIL, no geral e por sexo e privação.
